Rhythm Unity
Our Goal
With the world today so divided and tense, Rhythm Unity aims to foster cultural understanding and unity through music. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit seeks to spread the many advantages of group drumming to our community and help others learn about the history and culture surrounding it.

From the Founder - Why Rhythm Unity?
Hello, I'm Alanna Larson! As a percussionist, I have experienced the many benefits of group drumming firsthand. After I drum, I often feel happier, less worried, and more connected to the other people I am making music with. And it's not just my personal experience that demonstrates the benefits of drumming. Group drumming has been scientifically proven to be beneficial for the mental health of its participants. In addition, synchronized group activities cause greater social connection within groups.
My experience drumming made me realize how fortunate I am to be able to experience its advantages, and has helped me see that many others have not. My exposure to percussion has also given me a deep appreciation for the history and culture surrounding different percussion instruments and music styles. I founded Rhythm Unity, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, to bring group drumming to a wider audience so more people can learn about percussion and experience the joy of drumming firsthand.
What We Do
We organize and run drum circles throughout the community to increase mental health, social bonding, and physical dexterity. We also use these drum circles to encourage participants to access our materials about the value of music in everyday life and rich cultural history behind percussive instruments and music styles.
